El pasado jueves la represión que se realiza en el Norte de Perú ante la protesta de más de 30 mil indígenas que se oponen a la exploración y extracción de recursos naturales por parte de la multinacional francesa Penneco y la española Repsol, entre otras, llegó a su culmen con el asesinato de 30 indígenas hasta ahora confirmados.

Negado derecho fundamental a la consulta previa de indígenas y afrodescendientes del Cerro Usa-Kirandarra
Junio 5 de 2009. Para Contagio Radio hablaron Gisela Cañas y William Rueda, quienes son los abogados que llevan el proceso
jurídico de indígenas y afrodescendientes del Cerro Usa-Kirandarra, ubicado en la región del Bajo Atrato Chocoano antioqueño sobre los afluentes del rio Jiguamiandó y Murindó. Los abogados hablaron de la tutela que fue presentada el pasado 23 de enero de 2009 contra el Ministerio de Interior y de Justicia, Ministerio de Ambiente, Ministerio de Minas y Energía e Ingeominas y contra el Ministerio de Protección Social, donde pedían la protección de los derechos fundamentales de estas comunidades a la consulta previa, el respeto por la identidad, la integridad cultural y la existencia que tienen como grupo étnico y porque el pasado 27 de mayo fue negada.
